Phu Chi Fa is not one of the largest peaks in Northern Thailand but its remote location, winding approach roads, and final spectacular view make it a trek worth making, especially for sunrises, as the mountains change backdrops of colors as time ticks.
This is one of the most beautiful places in Thailand if you get there at the right time – on a day with clear skies.

Have you ever seen a 360-degree sunrise or sunset? Here at Phu Chi Fa, it is a reality! It’s not an easy place to get to but well worth the efforts. Moreover, the road to get there is scenic as well!
We came to the area in the evening. It was not a problem to find a nice place to spend a night, so we didn’t waste a lot of time and were still in time to see a sunset there.

We climbed up for sunset. The short hike took about 20 minutes and the view was superb. It is really spectacular and worth the effort to reach the summit for this amazing experience.
We were lucky with the weather and got pretty good views during the sunrise as well. We slept in a bungalow nearby and woke up at 4:30 AM to reach the mountain while it’s still dark. It was not too crowded yet, so we picked a good spot. Later on, it became a little crowded but the view made up for that.
The views are awesome and seeing the clouds disappear in the valleys below was well worth the walk to the top.
The sun rose above Laos and we viewed the most beautiful, spectacular sunrise that we had ever seen!
